Why does Passport Technology Canada Ltd. need to collect and store personal information?

In order for Passport Technology Canada Ltd. to provide persons in Canada with Cash Advance Services (Quasi-Cash) (the "Services") we need to collect personal information: (i) to verify your identity and to authenticate your access to the Services; (ii) to provide and operate the Services; (iii) to conduct research to improve the Services; (iv) to support the Services and respond to your queries and for correspondence with you; (v) to provide a responsible gaming environment; (vi) to detect and prevent fraudulent and illegal activity or any other type of activity that may negatively affect the integrity of the Services; (vii) to investigate and resolve disputes in connection with the Services; and (viii) as required by law, such as Know Your Customer and anti-money laundering requirements, or as requested by governmental authorities or governmental controlled bodies. We are committed to ensuring that the information collected from you at the gaming venues where you access the Services (the "Properties") is appropriate for these purposes.

Your personal information may be disclosed: (i) to VISA, MasterCard, Interac or similar companies in accordance with their respective operating rules; (ii) to employees, contractors, consultants, affiliates and other parties associated with Passport who require such information to assist us with managing our relationship with you, including third parties that provide services to us or on our behalf; (iii) to employees, contractors, consultants, affiliates and other parties associated with the Properties, including third parties that provide services to the Properties or on their behalf; (iv) to provincial gaming corporations and provincial gaming regulatory bodies in accordance with their lawful requests; and (v) to governmental and law enforcement authorities for the purpose of complying with legal requirements, ensuring a secure and safe environment for customers and employees and protecting against risk of violation of criminal and civil laws that are related to gaming and money laundering and other aspects of the business of the Properties. We will not share your personal information with any third parties without your consent, and will not sell or market personal information collected about you.

How Passport Technology Canada Ltd. uses your information

Passport Technology Canada Ltd. will process – that means collect, store and use – the personal information you provide in a manner that is compatible with applicable federal and provincial legislation governing the protection of personal information. We will endeavor to keep your information accurate and up to date and not keep it for longer than is necessary. In some instances, VISA, MasterCard and Interac Association or the Canadian law sets the length of time information has to be kept, in most cases Passport Technology Canada Ltd. will use its discretion to ensure that we do not keep inactive records outside (5 years) of our normal business requirements.

Your personal information will be stored and processed on computers located in Canada and maintained by our third-party service providers. We use cloud data storage providers hosted in Ontario, Canada, and we will not provide your personal information to overseas recipients for storage purposes without your consent unless we have taken reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient does not breach relevant and applicable data protection rules and regulations.

Our aim is not to be intrusive, and we undertake not to ask irrelevant or unnecessary questions. Moreover, the information you provide will be subject to rigorous measures and procedures to minimize the risk of unauthorized access or disclosure.
